In late 2020, as the Clean Energy Transition Institute was wrapping up its contract to provide technical and economic analysis in support of the Washington State Department of Commerce’s 2021 State Energy Strategy, Commerce Department colleagues requested additional analysis that would suggest ideas for how the state could achieve a more detailed analysis of greenhouse gas emissions in the state’s industrial facilities than what the state does currently; identify available data sources, data collection methods, and data-sharing mechanisms for the state’s industrial facilities’ GHG emissions; and prepare a targeted analysis and case study on the potential for manufacturing green cement in Washington. CETI in collaboration with SEI US, and under the direction of Derik Broekhoff, produced these deliverables in July 2021:
