Doubling Down on Decarbonization with Your Support

We close 2021 with the Covid-19 omicron variant raging, West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin refusing, at the 11th hour, to support President Biden’s Build Back Better bill, and COP26 finishing up in Glasgow with only modest achievements.

While the international and national scenes are bleak, there is tremendous activity at the regional and state level related to reducing carbon emissions. Here at the Clean Energy Transition Institute we remain laser-focused on accelerating decarbonization strategies in the Northwest.

Operation 2030: Scaling Building Decarbonization in Washington

We will kick off the New Year releasing Operation 2030: Scaling Building Decarbonization in Washington, our white paper produced with Poppy Storm of the 2050 Institute. Please sign up for our webinar, which will take place on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 10:00a-11:00p Pacific, to learn what it will take for Washington to achieve its net zero target in the building sector by 2050 and what must be done now to get on that path by 2030.

We Won!

Last month, we told you we had been nominated by the CleanTech Alliance and Northwest Environmental Business Council as a finalist for an Energy Leadership Award. On November 9, we learned we had won the award for outstanding achievement in energy policy, innovation, and business. CETI’s Board and Team share this award with all our supporters, donors, and contractors, without whom our work would not be possible.

Podcast Highlights of 2021

We are regularly asked for recommendations for reliable information about decarbonization strategies and trends. We posted a blog with a rundown of some of the more informative podcasts we listened to this past year.

Request for Support

We have plans for a very busy and productive 2022, when we will examine solutions for industry and building emissions and, funding permitted, the economic impacts of the transition on our region. We also aim to run the Northwest Deep Decarbonization Pathways model again to hone in on the actions that the region must take between now and 2030.

As you make your final charitable donations for 2021, we hope that you will keep the Clean Energy Transition Institute in mind. If you wish to contribute, you may either send checks to 4616 25th Avenue NE, PMB #416, Seattle, WA 98105, or donate online.

Everyone at CETI hopes you and your families will enjoy a safe and healthy holiday season, and we thank you very much for your ongoing support.
