This presentation is an overview of the deep decarbonization pathways studies that CETI has commissioned with Evolved Energy Research since 2018, describing the scenarios that were modeled and what was learned from studies of the Northwest as a region, and Washington, Oregon, and Montana individually.

This guest lecture at Western Washington University’s Institute of Energy Studies provided students with an overview of Washington’s climate and clean energy policies since 2019 and their relationship to the Washington 2021 State Energy Strategy.

Eileen spoke to the E8 Study Group, a collection of clean tech investors, describing the pathways to deep decarbonization for Washington state and what achieving a net zero by 2050 emissions target means.

Eileen spoke to the Oregon Environment Council’s Business Forum about the imperative to decarbonize swiftly and equitably; why 100% clean electricity is so important and what it means for Oregon; and some of the challenges and solutions for achieving the state's emissions reductions goals.

Eileen and Poppy Storm of 2050 Institute presented to the Sustainable Path Foundation at their Virtual Grantee Lunch, discussing the Operation 2030: Scaling Building Decarbonization in Washington project.

Eileen presented to the Stoel Rives Climate Change Working Group, discussing the implications of Washington State’s net-zero carbon emission reduction target and the need to create a cooperative electricity market among the 11 Western states.

Eileen presented to the University of Washington Environmental Law Society, reviewing the status of decarbonization in the Northwest and the Institute’s 2022 strategic focus.

Eileen presented to the Citizen’s Advisory Committee to the Washington Attorney General Public Counsel and described decarbonization efforts in the Northwest and specifically in Washington State based on the technical analysis CETI performed in support of the Washington 2021 State Energy Strategy.

Eileen and Jeremy Hargreaves of Evolved Energy Research presented on state and regional pathways to carbon neutrality at the opening plenary of the Intermountain West Energy Sustainability & Transitions (I-WEST) Workshop, hosted by Montana State University, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Eileen presented to the members of the Mirabella Retirement Community, describing the imperative to act on climate and what can be done to reduce carbon emissions, describing decarbonization efforts in the Northwest.

Eileen briefed members of the Mason County, WA League of Women Voters Climate Change Committee on various issues related to decarbonization for rural communities.

Eileen was a panelist at this conference for architects and engineers that explored the equity and social justice impacts of transitioning to clean energy source, materials, and processes.
