At the August 25, 2020 Washington State Energy Strategy Advisory Committee meeting, the CETI Team presented the preliminary findings of the deep decarbonization pathways modeling and six scenarios, which include: a Reference Case, business as usual through 2050; an Electrification Case which investigates the economics of a rapid shift to electrification of end uses; a Transport Fuels Case which looks at what happens if we can’t electrify transportation as much as decarbonization would suggest we should; a Constrained Resources case that examines what happens if transmission expansion is limited; and a Buildings Case, which shows the economic benefits of reduced energy infrastructure and fuel usage.
